In my 30 years of camping experience, I’ve noticed something:
kids today are busier than ever.

Don’t get me wrong: homework, school clubs, sports teams, music lessons, dance classes—these are all valuable, enriching activities.

But you don’t need me to tell you that everyday life can get pretty hectic.

At the beginning of every summer, kids arrive at our camp in Bancroft, Ontario. They’re shy and a little tense.

Then they look around.

They see the sun shimmering on the lake. They see the cabins nestled under the pine trees. They see the soccer field, the water trampoline, the campfire pits, the hiking trails, the theatre.

They see warm, welcoming smiles.

And they start to relax.

Within a couple of days, they’ve undergone a transformation I can only describe as magical.
